As an organisation, our fundamental goal is to promote sustainable development from the generation of low carbon renewable energy. It is therefore essential that we, as a Group, operate in a responsible and sustainable manner and successfully manage the impact of our activities. We also seek opportunities through our work to ensure environmental, social and economic improvement in society, increasing the wellbeing of people. We aim to demonstrate these responsibilities through our actions, guided by our Company policies.
We focus our CSR activities in the following key areas:
- ensuring that health and safety underpins all our operations
- protecting the environment
- supporting and engaging with local communities
- promoting equal opportunities and fair employment practices
- consulting with stakeholders and working with suppliers who uphold similar values.
Charity work
As part of our CSR commitment, Tidal Lagoon Power (TLP) recognises the importance of supporting local communities and helping to improve lives. We continue to look for exciting ways to raise money for worthwhile causes.
To date, we’ve supported a number of good causes through our fundraising activities. The most recent fundraising event TLP held was a 100 mile charity bike ride, which started at our head office in Gloucester and finished in Swansea. With the support of some of our stakeholders and the generosity of colleagues, friends and family members, the TLP team raised an incredible £12,757 for two amazing charities – Friends of Stepping Stones in Swansea and Ty Hafan in Cardiff.
