The Bay of Fundy is an attractive location for possible lagoon projects due to its natural resource and proximity to the fast developing New England market where recent legislation is mandating the use of clean power across the North Eastern states of the USA

During 2015, Tidal Lagoon Power undertook pre-feasibility studies to explore opportunities to locate tidal lagoon projects in and around the Bay of Fundy. Studies based on bathymetry, hydrographic and geological data from multiple Government and private sources have been undertaken by Seaforth Engineering of Halifax, Nova Scotia. These have identified at least five potential locations for large lagoons in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick with a prospective capacity of 5-8GW.  Simultaneously to this work, TLP contracted Acadia University-based consultants to conduct initial environmental scoping studies at these locations.

Tidal Lagoon Power has engaged extensively with the Government of Nova Scotia and with several of the preeminent universities and academic institutions with interests in the Bay of Fundy.  Most of the leading academic institutions in the province offer marine courses, which has led to a large pool of marine scientists from the different disciplines with worked focused on the Bay.  TLP is also a member of the very active trade organisation, Marine Renewables Canada (MRC).

Work is now scheduled to undertake more detailed project scoping and the development of a proposal for permitting with the Federal and provincial governments.
