Tidal Lagoon Power Adds Up For Finance Professionals

Tidal Lagoon Power, the development company behind the proposed £1 billion Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon, has announced the appointment of three finance professionals.

Reporting to Chief Financial Officer Patrick Carter, Chartered Accountant Richard Harris has joined Tidal Lagoon Power as Head of Project Finance. Having begun his career with Coopers and Lybrand, Harris has worked in project and business development throughout Eastern Europe, East, North and Southern Africa, South America and the Caribbean. Since 2000 his primary role has been developing and sourcing finance for global renewable energy and agro-industrial project including the development, financing, construction and operation of Belcogen, a 30MW renewable energy biomass power plant located in northern Belize, Central America. He is a qualified Prince 2 Project Practitioner and Member of the Institute of Asset Management.

Harris is joined by Corporate Finance Manager Nick Samuel. A Chartered Accountant with a degree in Geophysical Sciences, Samuel spent eight years with BDO International, two of which were focussed on establishing BDO’s renewable energy and infrastructure finance team before joining Nutricia Limited (part of the Danone Group) as a Business Analyst.

Grants Administrator Catherine Briggs completes the team. With specific experience of European funding, she will support the team with bid writing and funding administration tasks.
