Robert is a senior executive with a proven track record in finance; property and regeneration with strong links both with Westminster and Cardiff. He spent 14 years in the City in senior roles with Citigroup and Natwest’s merchant bank where he managed a number of businesses including project finance, venture capital and property. Subsequently, as Deputy CEO and later strategic advisor to Canary Wharf Group plc he was instrumental in the redevelopment of Canary Wharf and the London Docklands regeneration including overseeing much of the successful work on establishing the investment case for the Jubilee Line and Crossrail. Currently he advises and sits on the Real estate Investment Committee of a leading PE firm whose focus is on development in sub Sahara Africa.
He has held numerous Board appointments; was a partner at KPMG and has close links with Wales as a former Chair of Wales in London; former Board member of the Wales Millennium Centre and Cardiff&Co and currently as a Board member of Music Theatre Wales and a trustee of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion. He is a Wilkins Fellow of his Cambridge College, Downing; has an Honorary Doctorate from Swansea University and is a Honorary Fellow of Cardiff Metropolitan university.
