Andrew Shaw
Head of Project Controls

Andrew is an experienced programme manager and project controls professional whose career has spanned the motor industry, private banking and the rail sector prior to joining Tidal Lagoon Power in 2015 as Head of Project Controls. At Coutts Bank, Andrew was programme manager of a major outsourcing project in Hong Kong and Singapore before returning to the UK to oversee Coutts’ change programme as Head of Programme Office.  At Network Rail he was Programme Controller within the Signalling division before taking on the role of Head of Programme Management.

As Head of Project Controls at Tidal Lagoon Power, Andrew’s key responsibilities include leading a team of project controls professionals in project planning the Swansea and future lagoon construction schedules; identifying and coordinating the key interfaces across workstreams; identifying and supporting the management of risks; managing the change control process; document management and working closely with project managers and Tier 1 contractors to provide project reports on the progress of the construction phase so that key decisions to keep each lagoon on plan and within budget can be made.

An important part of the role is to recruit new members of the project controls team for assignment onto specific projects as the lagoon programme develops. Additionally, Andrew makes sure that staff are provided with the necessary training and development to enable them to apply the various procedures correctly and consistently across each of the lagoon projects.
