Siȃn John is an Environmental Consultant who specialises in considering the environmental implications of major infrastructure projects at the water’s edge and in the marine environment, including the development of strategies and schemes for mitigation, compensation and biodiversity offsetting. She is an expert in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), having led EIA teams for a large number of major infrastructure development projects (across the full suite of EIA topics) – from inception, through Environmental Statement submission, Public Inquiry and Consent. An acknowledged expert in Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA), particularly with respect to coastal development in or adjacent to internationally designated nature conservation sites, Siȃn has written guidance documents and provided training and keynote presentations on EIA and HRA.
In this capacity, Siȃn has given evidence on the process and content of EIA and HRA at Public Inquiry and has provided expert advice to the Marine Management Organisation (and others) on the sufficiency of other organisations’ Environmental Statements and HRAs. Siȃn has spent 20 years at Royal HaskoningDHV and joins Tidal Lagoon Power with a focus on environment, offsetting and the Ecosystems Enhancement Programme – the vision for which is to enhance biodiversity alongside the creation of clean energy by 2030, through a targeted nature conservation programme and innovative partnerships, to deliver conservation action in the UK and globally.
